As confirmed by Layshia Clarendon’s one-of-a-kind performance to kickstart Year 11, the “fountain of youth” could be described as not too shabby, either. Reading the Atlanta Dream’s backdoor cut attempt like a children’s book, Clarendon invades a passing lane for a well-timed steal. Unfinished, Clarendon, like a bowling ball eyeing a strike, bounces off of multiple Dream defenders, finishing her ambitious fastbreak push with a heads-up feed to her All-Star teammate for a score. Clarendon’s tireless approach on May 15, 2024 ultimately allowed for the most complete box score of her career. Seven long years after having what appeared to be her first-ever triple-double wiped away — ironically as a member of the Dream — Clarendon unintentionally returned purposefully, recording 11 points, 10 rebounds, 10 assists, two steals, and two 3-point makes.
