Parallels

The 2022-23 season was the best one for the New York Knicks in a decade. Not only did that franchise make it back to the postseason for the second time in three seasons, but the Knicks also won 47 games and a playoff series — neither of which had happened since 2013. The Knicks got there on the strength of an offensive unit that was rated third in the NBA, led primarily by Julius Randle and Jalen Brunson. Randle was an All-Star for the second time in three years after averaging a career-best 25.1 points along with 10 rebounds in 77 games as the veteran forward earned a spot on the All-NBA Third Team. After spending his first four seasons with the Dallas Mavericks, Brunson fit like a glove in the Big Apple as he brought a winning style of basketball to a city that was starved for it, averaging a career-high 24.0 points and 6.2 assists per game with many clutch moments mixed in. The Knicks — who also got steady contributions from the likes of RJ Barrett, Immanuel Quickley, Quentin Grimes and Josh Hart — dispatched the Cleveland Cavaliers in round one of the playoffs before falling to the Miami Heat in six games in the Eastern Conference semifinals.
