The 2022-23 campaign marked Giannis Antetokounmpo’s 10th in the NBA — as well as his fifth consecutive All-NBA First Team selection and seventh straight All-Star berth. The two-time MVP led the Milwaukee Bucks to the best record in the Eastern Conference for the third time in five years while averaging a career-best 31.1 points per game, and Milwaukee’s 9-0 start was its best in franchise history. Antetokounmpo posted 12 40-point games, one of only six players to hit that mark 10 or more times during the season, and his career-high 55 points on January 3 made him just the second Bucks player to log three 50-point games in the same year. The Greek Freak became the third player in league history to record back-to-back games of 40 points, 20 rebounds and five assists, as well as the second to ever average 30-plus points, 10-plus rebounds and five-plus assists while shooting at least 55 percent from the field. Antetokounmpo’s career triple-double count stood at 35 by the end of the season, placing him in the top-15 all-time by the age of 28. He also became the franchise’s all-time leader in games played, assists and free throws made during the course of the 2022-23 season.
