Trae Young may have been a rookie, but he left little doubt as to who would take the final shot with the game on the line. Young and the Atlanta Hawks shook off a 17-point first-half deficit and fought back to force overtime against the Milwaukee Bucks. The fifth overall pick made a go-ahead bucket with 6.8 seconds left in the extra session, but the Bucks answered with one of their own with 1.1 left to set up a dramatic conclusion between East-leading Milwaukee and the underdog Hawks. Kevin Huerter’s inbounds pass was deflected in the paint by Brook Lopez, but Young was in the right place at the right time to snare the loose ball and flick up a game-winning 12-foot runner as time expired. Young had missed all seven of his second-half shots and his first two in overtime before connecting on his last two to help deliver the Hawks a 136-135 win on March 31, 2019. The All-Rookie First Team selection tallied 12 points, five rebounds, 16 assists and two steals and finished his first season with averages of 19.1 points and 8.1 assists per game.
