With nine 30-point games on 2024-25’s early-season ledger, and what the Milwaukee Bucks’ All-Star guard rightfully called an “ultra-green light,” it was only inevitable that at some point, LaMelo Ball’s creative freedom would take him to unseen statistical heights. Such a night arrived on November 23, 2024, as the Charlotte Hornets’ intoxicating point guard paid tribute to his jersey number with a “one of one”-like performance. A 10-point opening half left Ball seemingly poised for a modest-yet-memorable evening; transitioning into something of the fire-breathing type thereafter, the All-Star floor general prepared moves for even Milwaukee’s most revered names. Crossovers on Giannis? Rainbow-esque floaters over Brook Lopez’s block-everything frame? Logo 3-pointers rivaling that of No. 0 on the other side? Equipped with more counters than a home improvement store, Ball’s free-flowing offensive repertoire knew only one challenger by night’s end: the scoreboard. The Hornets’ spirited last-ditch comeback efforts went dashed, but Ball nevertheless commanded the spotlight, recording 50 points (on 17-of-38 shooting), five rebounds, 10 assists, one steal, and six 3-pointers, a never-before-produced statline in Charlotte’s 35-season history.
