Karl Malone's name had sat atop the record books for 22 years, but the longest career in NBA history has a way of rewriting them. Early in the first quarter against the Dallas Mavericks on February 12, 2026, LeBron James fires a catch-and-shoot triple over PJ Washington, swish, then moments later, rises up on an early shot clock 35-footer over Washington again, and drains it clean at the 8:50 mark. Back-to-back threes in 22 seconds, in the 23rd season of a career that refuses to wind down. By night's end, James had become the oldest player in NBA history to record a triple-double at 41 years and 44 days old, surpassing Malone's mark by nearly a year, while also extending his record for the longest streak of double-digit assist games by any player 40 or older. His 123rd career triple-double, fifth all-time, arrived in a 124-104 victory as he finished with 28 points, 10 rebounds and 12 assists.
