Christian Wood’s offense helped compile a double-double. His double overtime defense won the game. The Dallas Mavericks forward made tremendous contributions on both ends against the Los Angeles Lakers and saved his best for last when he swatted Russell Westbrook’s driving layup attempt to preserve a one-point lead. Wood also recorded a block on a LeBron James layup try on the ensuing defensive possession, ensuring the Lakers would never lead again. Wood posted 24 points, 14 rebounds, six assists and five blocks as the Mavs outlasted the Lakers 119-115 on January 12, 2023.
