Given the Chicago Bulls’ slight lead, it wasn’t necessarily the end of the world, as Zach LaVine walked to the sidelines with seven points and a somewhat-normal off-shooting night seemingly poised to enter the record books. From the moment the Detroit Pistons threatened to match his struggles with an equally-troublesome result in the win-loss column, though, one might say the two-time All-Star bull began his charge. Bordering on unguardable over the game’s final seven minutes, LaVine offered game-changing long-range buckets in every manner possible. From contested stepback to in-rhythm dribble pull-ups, LaVine — single-handedly scoring 15 consecutive Chicago points during one sequence — flipped the game outright, eventually turning a once-tied, back-and-forth clash into a double-digit victory for Chicago. Admittedly focused on avenging his early-game struggles, LaVine found that in captaining a victory over his Central Division foes, that the box score told a quite memorable story. By night’s end, the brilliant 11-year guard had finished with 25 points (including 18 on six-of-eight in the fourth), alongside six rebounds, five assists, one steal, and seven 3-pointers, stamping his name among the night’s heroes.
