As the Portland Trail Blazers’ organization paid tribute to a title-winning, sport-changing late great from its franchise’s past on March 9, 2025, perhaps it was simply meant to be, Toumani Camara and his on-court crew delivering a 1977-style highlight. Finding many of the variables already in play — a fast-paced, selfless offense, and a heads-up pass from a center as the final domino to fall — Camara finds himself at the epicenter, turboing through the floor’s middle with no blue jersey impeding. Catapulted through the air with something ferocious in mind, Camara drops a sledgehammer, powering home a one-handed contact tomahawk over Isaiah Stewart’s valiant contest. Always prepared to join a party if defense-to-offense sequences are involved, Camara left behind one of the season’s more memorable through-the-air highlights, even despite the closely-contested loss to the Detroit Pistons. In 33 minutes, the second-year forward tallied seven points, five rebounds, five assists, one steal, two blocks, and a triple.
