Unworried, and prepared to deliver a cold-blooded bucket eerily reminiscent of last spring’s Game Two, Dončić, challenged by both Nickeil Alexander-Walker and a pressure-inviting play clock, backsteps into a 32-foot dagger, prompting audible groans from the Target Center crowd. In surviving everything from a 24-point opening-quarter avalanche from the opposing side’s superstar, to Minnesota’s physicality throughout, Dončić had the heroics required to guide the Dallas Mavericks to a statement-making victory.
