For longtime supporters of superstars from basketball’s previous generation, history is making it clear that there’s one new-school player they should be hoping to avoid a head-to-head against come postseason time: Anthony Edwards. Unapologetically aware of the almost-nonexistent numbers of experts picking the Minnesota Timberwolves, “Ant-Man” left his most resounding message for Game Four, in which the Wolves trailed for 38 of a possible 48 minutes, and fell behind by double-digits late. The next 12 minutes — as evidenced through a 16-point final quarter — became “The Anthony Edwards Show,” built through in-your-face 3-pointers, magical buckets featuring pump fakes and footwork, and eventually, the game-icing free throws. Seemingly basketball’s version of “The Legend Killer,” Edwards, for the second-consecutive season, made quick work of Hall of Fame-bound groups in relatively-quick opening-round series. Again living up to his profile as a big-time riser come springtime, Edwards closed April 27, 2025’s win with a 43-point, nine-rebound, six-assist, one-block masterpiece, accompanied by elite efficiency overall (12-of-23), from deep (5-of-10), and on foul shots (14-of-17).
