Anthony Edwards left little doubt to his first-time All-Star status. The Minnesota Timberwolves star — who would play in his first All-Star showcase the following month — made life miserable for the Houston Rockets all night. Edwards and his teammates swung the ball around the perimeter before the first pick of the 2020 NBA Draft decided to pass up a 3-pointer in favor of a high-flying throwdown over Alperen Şengün. Edwards poured in a season-high 44 points on 17 of 29 shooting while also converting 8 of his 16 attempts from downtown. He also mixed in six rebounds, four assists, three steals and three blocks in the 113-104 win on January 21, 2023. In 2023, Edwards set a franchise record for most points in a playoff game with 41 while setting career-best averages in every major offensive category.
