Devin Vassell wasn’t even born yet when Gregg Popovich coached his first game with the San Antonio Spurs in December 1996. That didn’t stop the Spurs guard from commemorating the 26th anniversary of the start of an iconic coaching career with a victory. Locked in a tight game with the Miami Heat, Vassell hit two clutch shots in the final two minutes, including a step-back jumper from the wing over Caleb Martin that broke a tie and gave the Spurs the lead for good with 1:13 to play. The third-year pro scored 18 points off the bench and also chipped in four rebounds, two assists and three steals in the 115-111 win on December 10, 2022.
