With a summertime holiday only hours away, and the Chicago Sky blocking their view of victory, it only seemed to make sense for Emma Cannon to ignite the L.A. Sparks through a few 3-point fireworks. A smooth-shooting contributor across multiple stops in her near-decade-long WNBA career, Cannon adds to a particularly memorable stretch, turning a transition number’s advantage into a wide-open catch-and-shoot triple. The third quarter, in many ways, became “The Emma Cannon Show,” as Los Angeles’ reserve forward poured in a 10-point contribution in that period alone, setting the stage for 15 points (on six-of-seven shooting), three rebounds, one assist, and three 3-pointers by night’s end. Chicago would prevail, but on the nationally-televised stage, Cannon settled among the stars, enjoying her highest-scoring performance since August of 2023.
