Regardless of player, quarter, or even opponent, there’s just something about the 2024-25 Indiana Pacers and their ability to score at will during end-of-shot-clock situations. Getting as close to the rim as reasonably possible in 4.5 seconds, Indiana’s smooth-shooting swingman eventually plants real estate in the midrange area before balancing into a contested jumper over Defensive Player of the Year Evan Mobley. The play, perhaps, illustrated the Pacers’ killer instinct, as it encouraged a 41-point lead at halftime, and ultimately, a dominant Game Four victory over the top-seeded Cavs. Positioning his team for an eventual 3-1 series lead just quarters later, Nesmith’s contributions on May 11, 2025 added up to 12 points (on four-of-eight shooting), four assists, two 3-pointers, and a +27 plus-minus.

Over a week-and-a-half stretch through mid-March, the Indiana Pacers found their resilience tested through a sequence that included five single-digit wins and a number of unsung heroes throughout the process. Nearly one calendar year ago, the Indiana Pacers traveled to basketball’s Mecca for an early-February East Coast clash that ultimately went remembered for both a victory, and an off-the-backboard, self-alley-oop dime that left 19,812 in astonishment. In producing a picture-perfect replica on December 22, 2024, second-year talent Jarace Walker picked the most creative way possible to show his veteran teammates how much attention he had been paying. Freestyling to the finish line with Indiana ahead by 27, Walker turns his innovativeness to a “10,” evading a Sacramento Kings defender while simultaneously eyeing a mutual colored jersey along the 3-point corner in his peripheral. Comfortable with multitasking, Walker magnetizes help defenders by tossing the basketball off-glass before using a mid-flight pass to set up a teammate’s now-unguarded triple. Highlights and success would come to define the day for Indiana, with Walker adding a nine-point, two-rebound, two-assist, one-steal, one-triple contribution to the cause.

Regardless of whether he’s helping push the tempo for the Indiana Pacers, or planting seeds for something special for the G League Mad Ants, Quenton Jackson is, in both cases, a must-see when setting his path towards the rim. Supplying energy during the Pacers’ November 18, 2024 clash against the Toronto Raptors, Jackson leaks the floor flawlessly after his teammate’s steal, positioning himself to benefit through a two-on-one opportunity. Free to sift through his catalogue of could-be dunks after his All-Star teammate unselfishly hits him mid-stride, Jackson opts for a favorite, powering in a back-scratching tomahawk that gets his sidelined teammates out of their seats. Toronto would successfully defend their home court, but Jackson, making use of his added opportunities, turned the late-November stretch into one to remember. With a 24-point breakout arriving just a game later, Jackson first created the springboard needed through an efficient nine-point, one-rebound, three-assist, one-steal, one-block effort in 19 minutes.

Rediscovering one’s footing after a 35-game absence is no easy feat, but with victories on his mind during his first month back, Aaron Nesmith found that occasional losses of balance were simply a part of the job. Aware of one surefire way to earn minutes within the Indiana Pacers’ stocked backcourt rotation, Nesmith takes to the floor, diving on the Washington Wizards’ midcourt logo in pursuit of a loose basketball. Hitting his transition-ready All-Star point guard in stride, Nesmith records a from-the-floor dime, setting up a two-handed flush that ties the game in the first quarter. In what became a four-point, come-from-behind win —  with Washington leading for 39 of a possible 48 minutes — Nesmith’s selfless, hustle-minded plays became crucial puzzle pieces in November 17, 2024’s battle. After a 20-minute appearance, Nesmith’s final box score included eight points (on three-of-six shooting), one rebound, one assist, one steal, one block, and a 3-pointer.

The game-by-game box scores painted Obi Toppin to be that of a model of consistency, as he used offensive versatility to collect double-digit scoring outputs in each of December’s first nine games. Perhaps, then, it was only right for Indiana’s pink-shoe-wearing highflyer to create a must-see picture himself, as he raced out in transition on December 13, 2024. Often too much for a defense to contend with by his lonesome, Toppin — offering first active hands to generate a steal — takes part in a three-on-one fastbreak platoon, quickly finding his hustle rewarded through an electrifying one-handed alley-oop flush. Sporting a 13-point early game lead after Toppin’s jam, the Indiana Pacers rode that subplot to victory over the Philadelphia 76ers, stringing together back-to-back road wins for 2024-25’s first time. Outstanding along the bench, Toppin starred with 20 points (on 7-of-11 shooting), eight rebounds, three assists, three steals, and two trifectas.
