At long last, the Sacramento Kings made it back to the playoffs for the first time since 2006. De’Aaron Fox earned his first All-Star selection and a spot on the All-NBA Third Team after averaging 25 points per game and leading the Kings to 48 wins and a Pacific Division title. Fox was also named the inaugural winner of the league’s Clutch Player of the Year award. Joining Fox on both the All-Star and All-NBA Third Teams was Domantas Sabonis, who averaged 19.1 points and 7.3 assists along with a league-leading 12.3 rebounds per game and 65 double-doubles. Sabonis’ 14 triple-doubles were second-best in the NBA, and he and Fox’s inclusion on an All-NBA Team made the Kings one of just two teams to feature multiple players. Keegan Murray was selected to the All-Rookie First Team after posting 12.2 points and shooting 41.1 percent from downtown across 78 starts, and his 206 3-pointers made were an all-time rookie record. Kevin Huerter and Harrison Barnes each averaged 15 points as reliable presences in the starting lineup, while Malik Monk was a spark plug off the bench with 13.5 points across 77 games. The Kings averaged an NBA-leading 120.7 points per game as the highest-rated offensive unit in the NBA en route to the franchise’s first division title since 2003. Sacramento took the Golden State Warriors to the wire in the first round before falling just short thanks to a 50-point Steph Curry performance in Game 7.
