Jamal Murray and the Denver Nuggets are off to the races. Murray wasted no time showing the Phoenix Suns he meant business when the Western Conference semifinals opened in Denver, grabbing a defensive rebound, then using a crafty behind-the-back dribble to slip through Kevin Durant and Chris Paul’s defense on the counterattack. Durant gave chase until the end but Murray beat him by a step en route to a transition layup. The sixth-year guard was absolutely electric setting the tone for the Nuggets, as his game-high 34 points — along with five rebounds, nine assists, two steals and six 3-pointers — led his squad to a convincing 125-107 Game 1 victory on April 29, 2023.
