After dropping Game 1 of the NBA Finals to the Denver Nuggets, the Miami Heat adhered to a simple formula to get even in Game 2 — let Jimmy Butler cook. As he has done the entire 2023 postseason, Butler continued to make the improbable look routine as he drove into the post against Nikola Jokić and picked up his dribble while looking for an open teammate. When he couldn’t find one, Butler took matters into his own hands and drilled a difficult turnaround fadeaway over the Joker to cut Denver’s second-quarter lead down to six. Led by Butler’s 21 points, four rebounds and nine assists, the Heat tied the best-of-seven series with an impressive 111-108 road victory on June 4, 2023.
