From undrafted free agent to Game 7 hero — Caleb Martin’s surreal journey just keeps getting better. The Miami Heat forward ensured his team would not be the first team in NBA history to blow a 3-0 series lead with an enormously clutch performance in the win-or-go-home showdown against the Boston Celtics. A driving Jimmy Butler hit Martin with a heads-up pass before stepping out of bounds, and Martin knocked down the wide-open 3-pointer after getting Grant Williams to bite on an opportunistic pump fake. It was one of four triples in six tries for Martin, who shot 11 for 16 from the field for 26 points to go with 10 rebounds and three assists in the series-clinching 103-84 win on May 29, 2023. The Heat became just the second eight-seed in NBA history to advance to the NBA Finals, where they will take on the Denver Nuggets, the Western Conference’s top seed.
