After shuffling into position behind the three-point line in a half-court set, Dick draws the attention of the defense and promptly kicks the ball back to a wide-open teammate for three. An imposing big with a penchant for flying above the rim, Trayce Jackson-Davis adds yet another offensive option for the Golden State Warriors. After setting a formidable screen for teammate Chris Paul beyond the arc in his second NBA contest, Jackson-Davis rolls hard into the paint, catches a pass and soars for a two-handed flush. Jackson-Davis racked up 13 points and nine rebounds while swatting four blocks in the October 30, 2023 contest.

Test Bilal Coulibaly’s defensive range if you want but it’s not recommended. Keeping track of his own check over the course of an Indiana Pacers possession, Coulibaly catches his man in the middle of a backdoor cut, then trails the attempt and spikes it out of bounds. It was one of three blocks in the October 25, 2023 debut for the Washington Wizards rookie, who also chipped in three points, four boards and three assists.

As comfortable scoring the ball as ever, Marcus Sasser didn’t wait long into his Detroit Pistons career to bury his first deep three. Afforded space beyond the arc when his defender ducks under a screen, Sasser cues up and fires from two feet behind the line. Sasser, every bit of the scoring spark plug he figured to be ahead of the season, finished his October 25, 2023 debut with eight points in 10 minutes of action.

Capitalizing on a gap created by a teammate’s quick screen, Black lunges into the paint and opts to call his own shot, canning a runner while absorbing contact for an and-1 opportunity. Patiently trailing a transition attempt, the Indiana Pacers forward stalks his opponent before lunging out with a 7-foot-3 wingspan to knock the ball loose and generate a scoring opportunity for his own squad the other way. In addition to the steal in his first NBA contest on October 25, 2023, Walker hauled in four rebounds.

Suiting up in his first NBA contest, Los Angeles Lakers rookie Jalen Hood-Schifino executes a halfcourt set with teammates, draws the attention of multiple defenders, then fires an assist in the opposite direction to D’Moi Hodge. The No. 17 pick in the 2023 NBA Draft recorded a pair of dimes in the November 27, 2023 matchup.

Biding his time beyond the arc in his second NBA contest, Strawther waits for a swing pass and connects on a triple. Spacing the floor in his first NBA contest, the 28-year-old Sacramento Kings rookie gets an opportunity, clears space with a ball fake then pulls up from deep. Calm, collected and unusually experienced for a rookie, Vasilije Micić provides instant impact for the Oklahoma City Thunder. The inbounder in a baseline out-of-bounds play, Micić executes the play to script, resulting in a wide-open triple for his first NBA points. The 29-year-old drained his only attempt and added an assist in the October 27, 2023 victory.

Given a free runway to the middle of the floor, Chet Holmgren does the unthinkable, working a shot fake before pivoting into a breathtaking self-alley-oop slam. Captivating both the audience and his teammates, the 7-foot-1 center looked right in place in a star-studded battle against the Los Angeles Clippers on December 21, 2023. Helping guide a demonstrative win, Holmgren needed only 11 shot attempts to punish the opposition for 23 points, six rebounds, and seven assists.

Broken plays happen, capitalizing on the chaos is a skill. Unfazed after a defender gets his hand on a pass, Milwaukee Bucks rookie Andre Jackson Jr. returns the favor with an interception of his own, then finds a teammate in the corner for the first assist of his NBA career. Jackson Jr. also racked up four rebounds in the October 29, 2023 matchup.

Suiting up in his second NBA contest, Utah Jazz wing Taylor Hendricks drives baseline for a shot attempt, misses on the first try, then out-motors the defense for a rebound and putback. Rookie Duop Reath flashes brilliance on both ends of the floor in his first career game, connecting on a long range trey and following suit with an emphatic rejection on the other end on the very next possession. The freshman scored 11 points and logged 3 boards and 3 assists in this loss on the road against the Los Angeles Lakers on November 12, 2023.

Putting himself on the radar with a strong Summer League performance, Leonard Miller continues to be efficient in every opportunity with the Minnesota Timberwolves. Providing his teammate with a needed outlet, Miller cuts into the lane before calmly tossing in a reverse layup, the first points of his young NBA career. The second-rounder made the most of limited action against the Memphis Grizzlies, producing two points, two rebounds and an assist in just two minutes, supplying highlights in the win on November 26, 2023.

A forgotten man among the Portland Trail Blazers’ new look 2023-24 roster, it’s only fitting that Kris Murray’s first-ever NBA score came with the defense’s eyes elsewhere. With all attention focused on his teammate’s dazzling dribble display, Murray mixes brains and brawn, sneaking through the backdoor with a cut before finishing with an in-traffic jam. In the milestone game, Murray tallied five points, two rebounds and three assists in a loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers on November 15, 2023.

Strong finishes around the basket helped make Brooklyn Nets forward Noah Clowney a first round pick in the 2023 NBA Draft. It’s no surprise that Clowney’s first bucket in the NBA came on a flush.
