It’s become increasingly difficult to handle Jalen Brunson off the dribble. The Dallas Mavericks fourth-year guard combines a couple of crossovers into a spinning, falling finish plus the foul. Brunson scorched the nets to the tune of 25 points on 10/13 shooting against the Miami Heat on November 2, 2021.

Houston Rockets guard Eric Gordon has carved out a reputation as a feared three-point marksman but, when he’s going downhill, he’s proven he can be just as effective. Gordon uses a drag screen to get a mismatch then leaves a New Orleans Pelicans defender in the dust with a quick in-and-out dribble en route to a crafty right-handed finish. Gordon was in vintage form in a 118-108 victory on December 5, 2021 with an efficient 23-point, five-assist performance.

The Memphis Grizzlies big man presents himself as a target in the middle of the lane, receives a pass and hammers home a one-handed jam right on top of the defender. McLemore tallied 20 points, five rebounds and five three-pointers on January 10, 2022 on the way to a 114-108 win.

The Chicago Bulls center takes full advantage of some sleepy defense from the Indiana Pacers and hammers home the jam. Vučević stuffed the stat sheet in a dominant display, with 36 points, 17 rebounds, four assists and three blocks in a 122-115 win on February 4, 2022.

The LA Clippers guard was on fire against the Houston Rockets on February 17, 2022, hitting eight triples en route to a 25-point night in just 22 minutes off the bench.

On this occasion, he shows off a soft three-point touch, punishing a relaxed Detroit Pistons defense with a catch-and-shoot triple. Miami Heat utility Max Strus shows he’s more than just a sharp-shooter with a jam that even his Chicago Bulls opponent Zach LaVine would have been proud of. Strus breezes past his defender with a swift side-step before steaming towards the rim and dropping an absolute hammer. Strus had nine points, three rebounds and two assists in the 118-92 win over the Bulls on December 11, 2021.

T.J. McConnell is one of the craftiest ball-handlers in the NBA. The Indiana Pacers guard breaks out a nice dribble combo to get by the Sacramento Kings’ Terence Davis II to finish a scoop shot through contact: hoop plus the harm. McConnell had a huge night with 18 points, seven rebounds and four dimes in a 94-91 Pacer victory on November 7, 2021.

Passing out of the post is a skill Orlando Magic center Robin Lopez has excelled at over the course of his long NBA career. Lopez catches an entry feed from Admiral Schofield, holds the ball out with one hand and quickly fires a return hook pass to Schofield for the finish plus the foul — a perfectly executed give and go. Lopez stepped up big time in his starting role against the Atlanta Hawks on December 22, 2021, tallying an unconventional double-double for a center with 10 points, 11 dimes and five rebounds en route to a 104-98 victory for Orlando.

Deandre Ayton shows one of those ways, rolling to the basket and slamming in a rim-shaking putback jam off a teammate’s miss. But, step into his paint, and the Chicago Bulls big will show you a different side of his game on the defensive end. Vučević teaches the Houston Rockets this lesson the hard way, sending a dunk attempt the other way for a highlight block. Vučević stuffed the stat sheet with 18 points, six rebounds and two blocks in a 133-118 win on December 20, 2021.

When a sharpshooter matches rhythm with confidence, no shot feels too difficult — not even off-balance threes with the game on the line. Evan Fournier makes an example out of the Boston Celtics in this play, taking an inbound pass and draining a crucial triple from the corner to take the lead. Fournier had a marquee night on January 6, 2022, scorching Boston to the tune of 41 points, eight rebounds and 10 triples, guiding the New York Knicks to a 108-105 win.

Nickeil Alexander-Walker shows how it’s done, using a smooth in-and-out crossover before gathering into a whirling, underhand scoop shot over a Memphis Grizzlies big. The New Orleans Pelicans guard led his team with 21 points, scoring efficiently from all three levels in a 112-101 win on November 13, 2021.

With his 6-foot-8 frame and 40-inch vertical, virtually no alley-oop lob is out of reach for Memphis Grizzlies big Brandon Clarke. Here Clarke runs a creative pick-and-roll with fellow big man Jaren Jackson Jr., slipping out just in time to stretch out for a rim-rocking one-handed alley-oop slam. Clarke was predictably efficient putting in 18 points on just nine shots, while adding 15 rebounds, three assists and three blocks in a 123-108 triumph over the LA Clippers on January 8, 2022.

Monte Morris is extremely underrated as a scorer and distributor off the bounce. With time winding down late in the game, Morris navigates around a screen before splashing an uncontested triple from the top of the key. The Denver Nuggets guard shot lights out against the Sacramento Kings on February 26, 2022, finishing with 21 points and five triples on almost 62% shooting from the field.

When you’re playing an NBA game in front of your hometown, you’d better be ready to put on a show. Jose Alvarado proves up to the challenge, putting the New York Knicks’ defense through a game of hide-and-seek. He uses a sharp behind-the-back before weaving through traffic and finishing with a fancy around-the-rim finish. Alvarado made good on his homecoming with an efficient 13-point, four-assist, four-steal performance in a 102-91 win for the New Orleans Pelicans on January 20, 2022.

Taking the final shot in a down-to-the-wire NBA game is a privilege not to be taken lightly. Enter, Detroit Pistons veteran Kelly Olynyk. Trailing by a single point with just two seconds remaining, the sharpshooting big man drifts to the short corner before fading back and knocking down a game-winner as time expires. Olynyk racked up 20 points and eight rebounds in the memorable victory over the Charlotte Hornets on February 27, 2022.

Trailer, trailer, trailer. With the defense on its heels, San Antonio Spurs rookie Joshua Primo provides an outlet for his teammate and readies himself for a three-point shot. Like clockwork, Primo collects the pass, steps into his shot, then releases over the defense for his first points in his NBA debut on October 20, 2021.

Force the big man out onto the perimeter and make him make a play: simple formula for defensive success, right? Boston Celtics veteran Al Horford has other plans. The five-time All-Star blasts down the lane with three power dribbles and finishes through contact while also earning a trip to the charity stripe. His steady play (10 points and seven rebounds) helped spark a 95-78 blowout against the Miami Heat on November 4, 2021.

Tyus Jones is an underappreciated playmaker with excellent instincts as a distributor on the run. The Memphis Grizzlies point guard notices Brandon Clarke hustling hard in transition and fires a beautiful bounce pass between two defenders for the slam. Jones scored 11 points and dished out eight dimes in his team’s 119-106 win over the Chicago Bulls on January 17, 2022.

When Rajon Rondo decides to hang them up, he’ll long be remembered for his ability to make plays with flash and flair. In a mismatch against a Milwaukee Bucks big, Rondo calls his own number, using a silky-smooth, over-the-shoulder circus shot to find a bucket. Rondo chipped in five points and five assists in a 115-99 victory for the Cleveland Cavaliers on January 26, 2022.

It should come as no surprise by now that Milwaukee Bucks big Bobby Portis is capable of scoring from anywhere. Portis shows what makes him a different type of big, sliding down the baseline for a drifting, one-legged fadeaway with two Portland Trail Blazers defenders in his airspace. Portis was red-hot with 30 points on 11-of-13 shooting, four rebounds and five assists in a 137-108 win on February 5, 2022.

After getting his pocket picked against the Detroit Pistons, Chuma Okeke shows how it’s done, hustling back in transition and adjusting in mid-air to block a shot from across his body. The Orlando Magic forward showed off his potential, with 17 points, six rebounds, three triples and three blocks in a 119-103 win on January 28, 2022.

Why go for the simple right-handed layup when you have the athleticism to go across the rim for a reverse finish in traffic? Orlando Magic guard Gary Harris puts that acrobatic grace on display in a tough finish over the Miami Heat. Harris led all scorers with an efficient 20-point performance on December 26, 2021.

Miles Bridges is a walking highlight above or below the rim. The Charlotte Hornets forward fakes a corner triple, drives down the baseline and converts an amazing, right-to-left-hand reverse layup with multiple defenders challenging at the basket. Bridges was firing on all cylinders in the January 17, 2022 win over the New York Knicks, finishing with a career-high 38 points, 12 rebounds and five assists.
