San Antonio Spurs guard Lonnie Walker IV pushes the ball up the court and hits the gas before the LA Clippers can set up on defense. Running straight at his defender at top speed, Walker fakes right then moves left with a smooth maneuver to lose his man and lay it in off glass on November 16, 2021.

The Charlotte Hornets roster is buzzing with youth and swingman Cody Martin is part of that core. Here, he retrieves a deflected ball, takes it the distance and soars for a one-handed dunk on the break. Martin finished with 10 points and eight boards in the October 22, 2021 win at Cleveland.

A frequent flyer who’s made a name as a ferocious finisher, Atlanta Hawks forward John Collins is no stranger to the friendly skies. He sets a screen up top and climbs the ladder for a devastating alley-oop over the defender. Collins contributed a well-rounded stat line of 11 points, six rebounds, five assists and five blocks in Atlanta’s 113-101 victory over the Oklahoma City Thunder on November 22, 2021.

When you’re labeled as a “shooter,” it’s important to round out other areas of your game. Svi Mykhailiuk unleashes the full arsenal in transition with a slick behind-the-back dribble followed by a lefty hammer over the Indiana Pacers' Justin Holiday. More known for his world-class, dead-eye shooting from deep, Portland Trail Blazers All-Star guard Damian Lillard has to get creative to score past the 6-foot-8 Paul George. Channeling his inner post scorer, he pumps the brakes, spins, then lays out for an up-and-under. Lillard went for 27 points on November 9, 2021.

There aren’t many backcourt rebounders like New Orleans Pelicans wing Josh Hart. He crashes the glass as soon as his teammate releases a shot from downtown and perfectly times a two-handed tip slam between multiple defenders. Hart filled all areas of the stat sheet with 13 points, five rebounds, five assists, three steals and three blocks in New Orleans’s 110-96 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves on November 22, 2021.

Jaylen Brown can flat out get buckets. The Boston Celtics swingman showed off his marksmanship at Madison Square Garden with this long-distance trey towards a career-high 46 points.

Minnesota Timberwolves point guard D’Angelo Russell has incredible style and creativity with the ball in his hands, which makes it difficult for defenders to figure out his next move. He breaks his man down with a few back-and-forth crossovers before shifting gears into a hesitation dribble and lefty scoop. Russell tallied 20 points, six assists, three rebounds and two blocks in an impressive victory over the Miami Heat on November 24, 2021.

Miami Heat guard Gabe Vincent is better known for his three-point shooting, but his “first career dunk,” as he calls it, is one for the books. The Washington Wizards defense clears the runway, allowing him a free lane to the basket for a two-handed slam. Vincent did a little bit of everything in this game, finishing with 18 points and three assists in a 112-97 win on November 18, 2021.

The road team wants nothing more than to silence the home crowd in a tense moment. Robert Williams III did just that after diving hard to the basket, hammering home a lob from Jayson Tatum. Williams III tallied a double-double of 12 points & 16 rebounds (to go along with 3 blocks) in Boston's 140-129 double overtime shootout in Charlotte on October 25, 2021.

It’s become increasingly difficult to handle Jalen Brunson off the dribble. The Dallas Mavericks fourth-year guard combines a couple of crossovers into a spinning, falling finish plus the foul. Brunson scorched the nets to the tune of 25 points on 10/13 shooting against the Miami Heat on November 2, 2021.

It’s rarely a good idea to challenge Clint Capela on the interior. The Atlanta Hawks’ reliable rim protector explodes up and emphatically denies a strong dunk attempt with his off-hand against lefty forward Kelly Oubre Jr. Capela dominated inside with 20 points, 15 rebounds and two blocks in a 115-105 Hawks victory over the Charlotte Hornets on November 20, 2021.

In the midst of a career run with the Philadelphia 76ers, three-point ace Seth Curry hits Toronto Raptors forward OG Anunoby with a series of crossovers and pump fakes to get off a shot from behind the arc. Unable to completely lose his man, Curry opts to toss the ball to teammate Andre Drummond for a give-and-go that he punctuates with a silky reverse layup at the cup on November 11, 2021.

The NBA is filled with feared rim protectors, but that won’t stop Damian Jones from attacking the rim. After an offensive rebound falls into his lap, the Sacramento Kings big man puts his 6-foot-11 frame and 37-inch vertical to the test against Portland Trail Blazers big Jusuf Nurkić. The end result? An authoritative one-handed jam that helps seal a Kings’ 125-121 victory on November 24, 2021. Jones stuffed the stat sheet with nine points, five rebounds, two assists and immeasurable energy in the process.

When you’re a rookie representing your hometown, the pressure can get to you. Just don’t tell that to 2021 Toronto Raptors draftee Dalano Banton. In his regular season debut, the Toronto native pulls up from halfcourt for three points... and his first ever NBA bucket.

It's practically a layup whenever LaMarcus Aldridge gets off a clean look from the midrange. In year 16, Aldridge knocks down his patented jumper from inside the arc to become just the 48th player in NBA history to reach 20,000 career points.

Just weeks into his NBA career, Josh Giddey has NBA fans and superstars alike buzzing about his movement of the ball. In his first regular season game with the Oklahoma City Thunder, the rook demonstrates masterful handles, simultaneously losing his defender and drawing two more before floating the rock to a teammate for a layup. In addition to his smooth maneuvers on the court, Giddey locked in 10 rebounds in his debut on October 20, 2021.

Clear the lane! Indiana Pacers big man Myles Turner makes a timely cut to the hoop, receives a pass from teammate Malcolm Brogdon and soars for a one-handed hammer over the contesting defense. Turner dropped a massive 40-point, 10-rebound double-double in the October 22, 2021 contest.

T.J. McConnell is one of the craftiest ball-handlers in the NBA. The Indiana Pacers guard breaks out a nice dribble combo to get by the Sacramento Kings’ Terence Davis II to finish a scoop shot through contact: hoop plus the harm. McConnell had a huge night with 18 points, seven rebounds and four dimes in a 94-91 Pacer victory on November 7, 2021.

When a shooter isn’t able to generate enough space, it’s time to improvise. Normally a go-to scorer from downtown, Milwaukee Bucks shooting guard Grayson Allen turns down a three-point attempt over RJ Barrett and breaks out a nice pass fake to get the upper hand on a tough New York Knicks defense. Allen finished with 22 points and still managed to connect on six triples in the November 5, 2021 matchup.

LA Clippers forward Paul George has earned his reputation as one of the NBA’s best tough-shot makers. The seven-time All-Star puts everything on display here, curling to the corner, and using his high release point to force overtime with a contested three-pointer at the buzzer. George had 26 points, nine rebounds and six assists against the Dallas Mavericks on November 23, 2021.

Terance Mann is no stranger to big-time hammers. The breakout LA Clippers player of the 2021 NBA Playoffs takes advantage of a scrambling defense and proceeds with zero hesitation. Mann sees an open lane to the hoop and is cleared for takeoff inside the free-throw line. Mann registered a 17-point, 10-rebound double-double in the November 7, 2021 win over the Hornets.

You need at least a couple players to defend in the area whenever Miami Heat big man Bam Adebayo is deep in the paint. He corrals a lead pass from teammate Tyler Herro, finds room in the paint and powers up and over the Charlotte Hornets’ Cody Martin for a two-handed flush. Bam’s slam was a small part of his monster 26-point, 19-rebound night in a 114-99 win over Charlotte on October 29, 2021.

Trailer, trailer, trailer. With the defense on its heels, San Antonio Spurs rookie Joshua Primo provides an outlet for his teammate and readies himself for a three-point shot. Like clockwork, Primo collects the pass, steps into his shot, then releases over the defense for his first points in his NBA debut on October 20, 2021.

Force the big man out onto the perimeter and make him make a play: simple formula for defensive success, right? Boston Celtics veteran Al Horford has other plans. The five-time All-Star blasts down the lane with three power dribbles and finishes through contact while also earning a trip to the charity stripe. His steady play (10 points and seven rebounds) helped spark a 95-78 blowout against the Miami Heat on November 4, 2021.

Over his first two seasons, Lamar Stevens has flashed potential as a sparingly-used, ultra-athletic two-level scorer, particularly in the open floor. The Cleveland Cavaliers forward makes his presence known on a 3-on-2 fastbreak, using his 41-inch vertical to flush one home on November 10, 2021.

Denver Nuggets guard Facundo Campazzo has all the tricks in his bag. As he lulls the defense to sleep with a hesitation and between-the-legs dribble, Facu then changes speeds and drives hard to the rim for a tough, off-balance layup.

The Phoenix Suns have become one of the league’s fastest teams in 2021-22, with Mikal Bridges being one of the biggest beneficiaries. Here, the Suns swingman turns on the jets right as he senses a fastbreak opportunity, then earns an alley-oop dunk from teammate Devin Booker. Bridges had an efficient 16-point performance during a 109-104 win over Sacramento on November 8, 2021.

If you don’t pay proper defensive attention, it’s easy to get burned. Philadelphia 76ers veteran big Andre Drummond rolls behind his defenders for a one-handed lob finish via teammate Shake Milton. Drummond had a dominant night vs. the New York Knicks, dropping 14 points and 25 rebounds on November 8, 2021.

The Oklahoma City Thunder roster is stockpiled with young talent. Isaiah Roby is one of those players. The versatile big shows off his guard-like skills with a quick jab step, then puts it on the deck and elevates for a monstrous one-handed slam. You don’t go 11-plus years in the league without reinventing parts of your game. Blake Griffin has done so at several points in his NBA career with the careful craft of his jump shot. In an October 31, 2021 matchup against his former team, the Brooklyn Nets forward pivots once to back up against his defender then pivots again for a half-spin, stepback, fadeaway jumper. Unstoppable.

Dropping pinpoint dimes is second nature to one of the game’s most elite distributors. Atlanta Hawks All-Star guard Trae Young draws in his defender before sending a no-look, behind-the-back dish to Bogdan Bogdanovic for the corner trey. Trae finished with 32 points and nine dimes in Atlanta’s 122-104 blowout victory on October 25, 2021.

LaMelo Ball’s passing game alone is must-see television. In an October 25, 2021 matchup against the Boston Celtics, the Charlotte Hornets sophomore guard pushes the ball up the court and tears into the paint. Noticing teammate Miles Bridges trailing him at the top of the key, Ball dishes a pinpoint-precise dime over his shoulder without looking, for Bridges to throw down with a thunderous slam. The 2020-21 Rookie of the Year went for 25 points, nine assists and five boards on the night.

Leave a rookie wide open in the paint and that decision just might blow up in your face. Houston Rockets first-year big man Alperen Şengün follows a teammate’s high-flying three attempt and, unguarded, levitates to emphatically jam it home as it bounces off the rim. Şengün grabbed six boards to go along with 11 points in his NBA debut on October 20, 2021.

Watching a center show off guard-like skills is a sight to behold. When it’s Boban Marjanović, fan excitement rises to another level. The Dallas Mavericks big man receives a pass inside, pump fakes, then splits the defense for a left-handed finish on November 15, 2021.

Detroit Pistons forward Jerami Grant is a rim protector. Grant shows off his defensive awareness and comes from the weak side to help pin a layup attempt off glass to prevent an easy bucket.

Julius Randle is a defender's nightmare. Bruising in the post, cat-like quickness on the perimeter. The versatile forward sizes up his defender, then blows by for a one-handed hammer. That's tough.

The ability to make tough shots cannot be taught. Denver Nuggets rookie Bones Hyland shows no fear in going 1-on-1 with his defender and puts on a series of moves, hesitations and fakes. Despite stout defense, Hyland still converts a leaning, one-handed fadeaway going left. That’s tough. The bucket counted for two of Hyland’s seven points off the bench in his NBA debut on October 25, 2021.

Now you see him, now you don’t. LA Clippers veteran guard Reggie Jackson makes a heads-up play, first lulling Jordan McLaughlin to sleep before suddenly turning on the turbo en route to a blow-by and an acrobatic layup. Jackson had a season-best 29-point performance against the Minnesota Timberwolves in a 126-115 win on November 3, 2021 along with eight assists and five rebounds.

Be ready when Ish Smith has the ball in his hands. A simple two-man game fakes the defense as the Charlotte Hornets guard uses a slip screen to reward teammate PJ Washington underneath the hoop, whipping a no-look pass to the big for an easy two points. Smith recorded five dimes in the October 31, 2021 win against the Portland Trail Blazers.

Caris LeVert is one of the best isolation wings out there. He caps off a 43-point Indiana Pacers first quarter with a heavily contested step-back triple over seven-footer Jakob Poeltl at the buzzer. LeVert dropped 16 points and 7 assists in a 131-118 slugfest against the San Antonio Spurs on November 1, 2021.

In year five as teammates, Toronto Raptors teammates Fred VanVleet and OG Anunoby can communicate without a single spoken word. Anunoby slips to the basket and slams down a perfect feed from VanVleet up top. Anunoby dropped a career-high 36 points to lead Toronto to an impressive victory over the New York Knicks in The Garden on November 1, 2021.

Fake left, go right. Orlando Magic big man Moritz Wagner abides by this rule of thumb and freezes his defender in the post before attacking the rack and finishing with a ferocious slam. This dunk was two of Wagner's eight points off the bench that helped the Magic grab a road win in the October 24, 2021 contest.

Mo Bamba has become a popular addition to breakout candidate lists largely due to his overwhelming athleticism, on display here with a putback dunk off of a Cole Anthony missed floater. The Orlando Magic big man went for 18 boards, 14 points, five assists and three blocks in a narrow 110-109 loss to Toronto on October 29th, 2021.

How do you stop an alley-oop tag team that’s perfectly in sync? Don’t bother asking. New Orleans Pelicans big man Jaxson Hayes hands the ball off to teammate Kira Lewis Jr. at the three-point line then, as a defender falls to the ground unsure who of the pair to guard, Hayes levitates to slam home a feed from Lewis Jr. on October 30, 2021.

Isolate Chris Paul in the mid-range and it's an automatic bucket. Even against an all-world defender in Anthony Davis, the veteran floor general puts on a dribbling clinic before casually rising up for a contested jumper that splashes the bottom of the net. Silky smooth.

From New Orleans to Los Angeles, Rajon Rondo and Anthony Davis have years of experience as a lob pairing. Without a word or signal, Davis quickly spins around Juan Toscano-Anderson and skies for a Rondo pass that's already in flight. Poetry in motion.

Devin Booker has made his name as one of the NBA’s most proficient three-level scorers. In the 2021-22 season, he’s also playing passing lanes and stealing the ball at a career rate. In a cat-and-mouse game, the Phoenix Suns All-Star guard makes himself skinny to fight through a dribble handoff before using his intuition to turn back and get a steal for a reverse fastbreak jam. Booker ended with 18 points in a Phoenix Suns 112-100 win on November 2, 2021.

Tyler Herro does not shy away from the big Moments. The Miami Heat guard has zero hestiation in getting to his spot, taking his defender off the dribble, then hitting him with a stepback triple. Nothing but bottom. Herro chipped in with a team-high 30 points off the bench.

If there’s an angle Ja Morant can’t squeeze a layup through, the world has yet to see it. The Memphis Grizzlies guard hits a lightning-quick right-to-left crossover, corkscrewing a scoop shot over the arms of both Kent Bazemore and Anthony Davis. It was one of many highlights from a 40-point, 10-assist masterpiece against the Los Angeles Lakers on October 24, 2021.

Though he’s best known for his scoring, Bojan Bogdanovic is an underrated ball-handler. The Utah Jazz forward unleashes a spectacular double-crossover on the Orlando Magic’s Chuma Okeke before dropping a feathery lob to Hassan Whiteside for the slam on November 7, 2021.

Tucker has become renowned for his corner three-point shooting and aggressive defense, but with the Miami Heat he’s attacking the offensive glass at the highest rate since his rookie season. Tucker slams down a rim-rocking putback dunk off of a Tyler Herro miss on the way to a 10-point, 13-rebound outing on November 10, 2021.

All hustle and heart. Houston Rockets swingman Jae'Sean Tate exemplifies it all as he tracks down a loose ball in the backcourt, puts a spin move on his defender, then rises for a two-handed emphatic slam. Tate registered 12 points, eight boards and four dimes in the game.

Some rookies are just fearless from the jump. In his first regular season game with the Indiana Pacers, Chris Duarte attempts to lose his defender with a sidestep and a pump fake. With his man still on him and seconds left on the clock, Duarte pulls up for a jumper and beats the buzzer to nail a three, capping off an 11 point quarter.
