2006-07’s season sits far in the rearview, but longtime Cleveland Cavaliers supporters can likely still recall vivid memories of the time their franchise’s then-face captivated audiences through a 25-straight-points takeover. With this year’s Cavaliers entertaining the idea of raising similar banners through the arena's rafters, Ty Jerome unintentionally paid tribute in perhaps the best way one could: 24 consecutive points scored or assisted in Game One’s runaway win. Almost unguardable throughout April 20, 2025’s evening, Jerome challenges the Miami Heat’s All-Star pairing to a final-quarter game of pick-and-roll cat-and-mouse, eventually turning the lax coverage into a 31-foot trifecta, ballooning Cleveland’s lead to 17. The five-year wait for Jerome’s first playoff statement proved well worth it, as Jerome — averaging 16.3 points by series’ end — finished Game One with 28 points (on 10-of-15 shooting), five rebounds, three assists, and five 3-pointers. In the franchise’s 55-year history, Jerome’s rainstorm marked the third-highest-scoring showcase by a player in their Cavaliers postseason debut.
