The pink-and-blue “Miami Vice”-themed court often represents a top-of-the-league aesthetic, but for every sight worth seeing in January 27, 2025’s Sunshine State showdown, the Orlando Magic hoped to avoid one visual in specific: Tyler Herro during crunchtime. Having burned the Magic for a crowd-silencing game-winner just a month prior, Herro sets hopes on something similar after his frontcourt teammates’ hustle leads to an offensive rebound. As reasonably open as can be upon meeting the eye of his fellow all-world center, Herro uses a shovel pass to bury Orlando for good, draining a deep-range dagger that encourages a four-point lead late in double overtime. A minute-and-a-half later, the Miami Heat — given just a 3.6 percent chance of winning at the fourth quarter’s midway point — survived a thrilling matchup that required a double-digit comeback. Named to his first-ever Eastern Conference All-Star team just days later, Herro illustrated many of the reasons why, compiling 30 points (on 12-of-28 shooting), eight rebounds, 12 assists, one block, and four 3-pointers.
