The calendar may have proven March 10, 2020 to be only game No. 30 in the soon-to-impressive career of Naz Reid. Yet, with a 13-year veteran monitoring his movements from the high post, the talented Minnesota Timberwolves rookie big offered one of many examples of a playstyle built on poise and precision. Giving the elite, title-contending Houston Rockets a considerable challenge in the final period, the Timberwolves attempt to target an advantageous matchup, using Reid’s 6-foot-9 frame in a post-up against Jeff Green. Intuitive in sensing Green’s indecision on whether or not to front, Reid spins baseline, opening a window for a quick catch and then a powerful jam. Minnesota’s efforts in what would become the season’s final game would go in defeat, though Reid’s efforts stood the test of time. Finishing the shortened 2020-21 campaign with five consecutive double-digit scoring tallies to strengthen the platform for his upcoming sophomore season, Reid contributed 11 points (on five-of-eight), four rebounds, three steals, and one steal.
