Squaring off against the San Antonio Spurs in the first game of the season, the 40th overall pick thwarts a Spurs drive to the basket with a block and change of possession for his new squad. The first four minutes of McGowens’ NBA career were a successful first impression, as his first career block made an impact as the Charlotte Hornets won all four quarters in the runaway 129-102 victory on October 19, 2022.
