If the NBA’s unpredictability were ever in question, one need not look any further than Coby White — tallied for just three dunk attempts in 2024-25 — conquering a battle through the skies against the Association’s No. 1 shot blocker. Determined to be the player peaking highest during January 6, 2025’s rollercoaster-like battle, White uses first a pump-fake, erasing any opportunity for the defensively-gifted Jeremy Sochan to leave an impact. Successful in conquering the “difficult” part of the task, depending on one’s perspective, White survives an at-the-rim test against Victor Wembanyama, using already-built momentum to secure what ultimately became the game-clinching jam. Later admitting to literally closing his eyes mid-dunk, White undoubtedly left the United Center with must-see sequences, as he heroically helped “white out” a 19-point deficit, coordinating a victory in which Chicago led for only 47 seconds. Nothing short of sensational down the stretch, White’s end-of-night statline included 23 points (on 9-of-18 shooting), two rebounds, four assists, four steals, and three 3-pointers.
