Jaren Jackson Jr. is now the second player in Memphis Grizzlies history to earn consecutive spots on the All-Defensive First Team. The 2023 Defensive Player of the Year also led the league in blocks per game for the second straight year, with his average jumping from 2.3 to 3.0. Jackson Jr. also averaged one steal per game to go with his 18.6 points and 6.8 rebounds on a Memphis team that eclipsed 50 wins for the second season in a row. A first-time All-Star, Jackson Jr. helped the Grizzlies improve to the third-rated defensive team in the league — up from 17th the preceding year. The fifth-year forward was also the top-rated defensive player in the league and was a near-unanimous selection for the All-Defensive First Team. In addition to leading the league in blocks per game, the 6-foot-10 Jackson Jr. was also tops in block percentage while finishing second in total blocks behind Brook Lopez.
