Donovan Mitchell

Comfortably ahead, and often able to enjoy an on-court view of his teammates’ brilliance, Donovan Mitchell didn’t necessarily need to introduce the Washington Wizards to his blink-of-an-eye ability to light up a scoreboard. But, with the Cleveland Cavaliers sporting a late-game 22-point lead, and his replacement approaching the check-in table, the five-time All-Star decided to show December 3, 2024’s opponent what reasonably could’ve been. Unknowing of the five-points-in-five-seconds sequence soon headed his way, Mitchell rhythmically hop-skips his way through double screens before spinning his way into an acrobatic double-clutch finish. Competitive enough to keep his motor running, even with victory all-but-secured, Mitchell telegraphs an ill-advised inbounds pass, sealing a memorable two-way string with a pull-up triple. Mitchell’s early-game work allowed him to celebrate from the sidelines soon thereafter, as the Cavaliers added to their NBA-best 19-3 record. Tied for No. 2 along the scoring column, Mitchell contributed 19 points, complemented by five rebounds, seven assists, three steals, and four 3-pointers.
